Is this a good area of Rome?

Found a nice apartment to rent in Rome that is on Via Crescimbeni. The apartment looks nice and the price is right for a one week stay.

It is just West of Parco Oppio and about 2 blocks west the Colosseum. We've never stayed in this area and wondering if it is nice or might be a bit seedy?? (we normally stay closer to the Spanish Steps or Via Veneto). Is there an abundance of restaurants in the area? Thanks for any opinions.

Two blocks west of the Colosseo puts you smack in the middle of the ruins of the Foro Romano.

Do you mean north maybe?

That street is actually east of the Colosseum. Working class neighborhood bordering on the seedy but not dangerous. The only restaurant that I know of close by (I'm sure there are more but I haven't been to them) is Trattoria Monti which is excellent.

We had a GTG (at apartment of a Rome resident)in that neighborhood last year. It's not really not that bad. There's a lot of apartments, a grocery, laundry, etc. In otherwards, it's a neighborhood.
It's oviously not as convenient as your other stays, but it should be inexpensive.
You'll probably need to look up restaurants near the Colosseum. I didn't notice any.

You are right...I meant EAST. Sorry about that. I think we'll opt for a more central, convenient location. Thanks guys!
