Is this a cheap ticket to Munich
 

I found airfare on United for $669(taxes included). The flight is direct from Dulles to Munich in the beginning of December. Considering prices of everything now, is this a good price? It may be a bit cheaper come Oct/Nov but we don't want to wait that long to purchase the ticket as one of us is using FF miles and the other would be buying this ticket.

I bought my tickets from Newark to Munich last week on Air France (connection in CDG) and paid $590 tax included. My travel dates are end of Nov/Dec.

Sassy27, wow - that is a great price. I have to fly United due to my FF miles so my friend wants to fly them as well. I don't think they have a codeshare with AirFrance.

That's a great price. I booked today Open-jaw from Dulles to Nice end of Sept. and returning from Florence Oct. for $984. I had to purchase it today because last week it was $961. Book it. Don't wait hoping that the price will go down. Great price!!!

Roundtrip Munich to Newark last November on Lufthansa was 300€.
Frankfurt to Boston next week is 300€ too on NWA, which is amazing for Summer.

Those cheap tickets still exist.

Oops, didn't mention Frankfurt to Las Vegas in February, roundtrip on Condor for 150€ incl. taxes. :D

That's about what I paid last year in April - not the best price ever, but really a pretty good one. I've flown before for the mid-$500's, but that was 2 years ago before the real plummet in the dollar and gas crisis. I don't think that it's worth the extra stress and time for fighting for $70 less. Of course, I'm assuming that Dulles is convenient to you - if you can do other airports JUST AS EASILY, you could search them.

I'd recommend United to Munich because of the in-flight entertainment -- each seat has its own screens. I'm not sure that Lufthansa's seats have been upgraded yet - they had drop-down screens in the cabin last time I flew Lufthansa.

Also, if you can get Economy Plus seats on United (either by paying for the rights for the year or by paying more for the ticket), it's well worth the extra legroom. That's a long flight and it really helps (my 6'4" husband needs it, and it's just a nice bonus for 5'4" me).

However, as between United and Lufthansa out of Dulles: Lufthansa runs fewer flights, so their check-in lines are generally far shorter. If you're flying United mid-afternoon to evening, those check-in lines can be really long so you must show up in time to get through that line and security. We've almost missed a flight because of United's long check-in (though it is better now).

Thank you for the replies! I did book the $660 fare for my friend. I was able to get a ticket using my United FF Miles. We live 15 minutes from Dulles Airport so can't beat that! And we are flying direct, so figured for that prices, we'd book it. Both flights are on United - there was a flight available on Lufthansa for our date but when I went to book my FF ticket, the Lufthansa flight disappeared, which is ok.

The plane we are flying on (both ways) is a 777. I'll have to go on www.seatguru.com to check out the cabin ammenities!
