Is there any good Japanese food in London?

Where can I find good Japanese food in London, such as sushi and ramen?

We are spoilt for choice for Japanese restaurants in London. For Ramen, one of my favourites is Kanada- Ya in Covent Garden.

The lunchtime Bento boxes at Nobu in the eponymous hotel in Portland Square are amazing and v good value. If you stray onto the al a carte menus it is superb but very expensive.

Sushi Show Shoreditch is a basic but good option for sushi if you happen to be out and about in Shoreditch.

Otherwise head for Chinatown or take a look in Time Out for up to date recs https://www.timeout.com/london/resta...se-restaurants

Stay away from Wagamama.

I went through a Japanese phase about 15 years ago and was taken to a shopping centre with high levels of Japanese shops. However this might interest https://www.timeout.com/london/trave...ture-in-london

Koya is excellent. It’s in Soho on Frith st. Been enjoying their udon noodles and tempura for awhile and it’s always included in our restaurant list for London.

Have any friends eaten at dozo sushi? How do the dishes taste?

I know you mean restaurants, but if you are looking for takeaway, Waitrose has a new Japanese section in its supermarkets. I’ve often bought their sushi selections.

A couple of very good sushi/japanese places local to us in NW8 are Kotta Sushi in Violet Hill ( just behind Abbey Road studios if you happen to be Beatles fans), and Maido in Circus Rd.

We always had great experiences at Zuma, another high end Japanese restaurant. Excellent food, terrific cocktails, very good service.

We liked the Wagamama salad dressing. They posted the recipe in one of the British newspapers and we've made it several times with good results.
