Is there ANY easy (fast/cheap) way from Croatia to Greece???

We're planning a trip starting in Venice and ending in Dubrovnik...and then (trying) to get to Greece (Corfu/Santorini/Ios/Mykonos). I keep hoping there's an easy way...versus spending 2 days going by ferry from Dubrovnik>Bari, Italy>Corfu OR flying from Dubrovnik>Zagreb>Gdansk>Zermatt>Vernazza>Milan>Montenegro...and then walking across Albania. OK, ok, I exaggerate...but not by much. I can't *believe* in 2010 there isn't an (obviously very obscure, secret) way to do this. Anybody????? * peers at screen *

I thought that your question must be a bit silly. Of course there are flights from Croatia to Greece! Then I looked on Whichbudget, and found that the only thing I could find was one flight from Zagreb to Kavala on German wings. Cost €179 one way, so it is not cheap.

Perhaps you should just stay in Croatia.

Thinking further about your dilemma, Ramblero, and your idea about walking across Albania is not so far fetched. I once sailed from Dubrovnik to Corfu, and it is only about 220 miles by sea. It looks about the same overland. Surely, in this day and age, with Albania opened to tourists, you might be able to hire a car, or take public transport for that short distance. I have not done it, of course, but perhaps someone here on Fodors could help.

Hate to be the only one responding to you, but I just found a web page on Google that details the ways of getting from Croatia to Greece.

http://www.balkanology.com/overview/...to_greece.html

It sounds sort of tough, but fun.

It's not cheap, but Lufthansa has a direct flight from Dubrovnik to Athens.
I had some research on getting from Dubrovnik to Rome, but I lost most of that when my computer crashed last year. It seems as though Air One flew from Dubrovnik to Rome, and surely you can get from Rome to Athens, although again it might not be cheap. Or is Air One now Alitalia? Not sure any of this is helpful!

Well....we've pretty much exhausted ourselves (2 people, 3 hrs/day/4 days) to conclude that there is *NO* easy, fast way to get from Croatia (or anywhere else in the Balkans) to Greece...save flying from (anywhere in the Balkans) to (somewhere in Europe) and then to Athens and *then* to somewhere else in Greece.

Now we're working on trying just to get from Venice to somewhere close in Croatia (Porec? Pula?? Rovinji????) to rent a car to drive thru Slovenia and Croatia.

Help!!!! Anybody got any ideas????

* sighs * This is the MOST difficult trip we're ever tried to plan. Current thinking is to rent a car in Venice and then drive a BIG loop thru Slovenia to Zabgreb to Dubrovnik to Montenegro and back to Venice via Korcula and Split...and then fly to Corfu (via Athens...because NOTHING goes directly to Corfu). Oh...and the only cheap fare to Corfu is overnight on Sat ($178/person; 9.75 hrs).
