Is there an ATM in the Rome train station?

Hi,

We will be arriving from Venice by train to Rome and will need to pay for our apartment in cash when we arrive. I don't really want to travel on the train with 1000 Euros so I was wondering if I could access an ATM in the train station. If so, where is it located? Thanks!!!

I'm not sure if there's one in the train station, but there are banks w/ATMs on almost every street (our last visit to Rome was less than a year ago). No different from USA.

In general, intercity train stations are bad places to be observed using ATMs. They are places where many petty thieves ply their trade.

Out of curiosity...are you going to be taking out 1000 euros from that machine? I believe that are limits that are smaller than that amount for ATN withdrawals...

Yes, there's at least one, right before you go outside to the quais.

But I wouldn't use an ATM in Termini unless I was traveling with at least a cou0ple of other people who could hold my bags, keep an eye out, etc. Your wallet/the cash could be gone in the blink or an eye while you're fumbling around with buttons on the screen, etc.

Same thing for any train station.

Thanks for all the quick replies!

LucieV, Thanks for the Visa ATM website. Very helpful!

Padraig and StCirq, Yes, I am aware that train stations are not the best places to withdraw money, but I was thinking it'd be better than traveling with all that cash. My husband and two older teenage boys will be with me and we will be very cautious. If it looks at all suspicious, we won't use it. Thanks for the concern though.

Michel_Paris, No, I don't plan on withdrawing all the money, I will bring some from Venice. I have been reading that I can withdrawal money from the same machine a couple of times.

I'm wondering how else we could do this. Would it be safe to ask a taxi driver to bring us to an ATM? That might make me more nervous though. Thanks again!

Jayneann, there are ATMs all over the place, so it's not as if your taxi driver would have any difficulty bringing you to one. Chances are that it might not involve a detour -- and certainly not a big one. In your position, that's what I would do.

I suggest that you also arrange with your own bank that you have a daily limit large enough for your purpose.

Thanks Padraig! Maybe we will do that. I have already increased my ATM withdrawal amount to $1000 per day, so hopefully all will go smooth!
