Is there a portable GPS that is geared toward vacationing in Europe and North America?

When traveling in Seattle last summer, our rental car had a GPS system. It was invaluable for finding restaurants and points of interst. Does anyone know if there is a portable GPS that would be helpful while traveling in Europe and the United States? There are so many models out there. I did not know if there was one that is geared toward frequent travelers (maps, restaurants, points of interst, language guide, currency calculator, etc).

I've used a GPS locator on both a laptop and pocket pc with Microsoft Streets & Trips (N.A.) and AutoRoute (Europe).

They both have maps and p.o.i. (about 20 categories) built in. I use discrete applications for language, currency, etc.

See here: http://www.microsoft.com/streets/default.mspx

And here: http://www.microsoft.com/uk/homepc/a...e/default.mspx

I've seen Streets & Trips bundled with the GPS device for $80 recently.

i actually just rented a gps system from lowergear.com. i cant tell you much about it because i wont be using it until july, but the people there have been very helpful and it runs $169 for 2 weeks, which i think is well worth it.

Keep in mind that for what you pay for a Magellan handheld, you can buy a pocket computer that does thousands of other things besides GPS navigation.
