Is there a best day for cheap airfares in Spain?

I need to purchase my airline tickets for MAD - BCN and BCN - GRX. Is there a certain day that the airlines, ie- spanair, air europa, ibera, etc, have sales on their tickets? For instance Airtran fares usually go on sale Tuesday thru- Friday.

Have you checked Iberia's SPANISH website (english language version) as oppposed to their US website?

I booked tickets a few weeks ago from MAD to La Coruna and from Santiago to Madrid and paid only 40 Euros plus the usual taxes (total 60 Euros). The very same routes, for the same times cost FOUR times more on the US website and my TA came back with a price SIX times more!

BTW, the tickets were cheaper than Spanair for the same destinations and much more frequent.

It appears to me that Iberia offers these special discount tickets ONLY on the local website and not on international sites.

Go to Iberia.com, choose the Union Jack symbol for English language, sign up for their FF programme and check it out.

All the tickets are electronic, so there is no problem with mailing tickets.

Thanks Ger,
I could just kick myself since I saw a fare for $50 and did not get it. Do you know if the 2 weeks or 30 day thing applies to Spanish airlines?

on many of htese websites you can click "soy flexible" to get a calendar view of best prices.

www.vueling.com also ofers calendar view.
as do www.talonotel.com and www.bancotel.com when you get to each hotel.

I tried to use the link Iberia.com but keep getting error message.
OReilly, what am I doing wrong? Your advice sounds good and I would like to use it.
Thanks.

raydotman, try the above. I have noticed that their website is a bit flakey.

Look for the PROMO fare.

Iberia´s Spanish web is frequently "down" and not available. Just try again the next day.

On Monday I booked airfare on Iberia Airlines from Barcelona to Marakkech, Morocco and found the airfare to be MUCH cheaper if I said I was from the USA then from Spain. So, be sure and check it both ways.

Thanks, Ger. That site worked. Looks like some very good prices. Good timing also as both myself and a friend are in the midst of planning a trip around Spain.

Helen

I took three flights last month within Spain and Portugal on Vueling for 10 euros each plus tax. There was an e-mail from them the other day that they are now having a sale for .01 euro plus tax.

I was able to get a flight from MAD-BCN on ultimatefares.com flying spanair cheaper than the spanair flight, iberia and air europa. On most websites, I check both the spanish and english sites and have not seen a difference yet.

Vueling had cheaper flights but they were 6:00 am. I don't even take 6:00am flights for business not going to do it on vacation. I also found terminal a had really good fares too.
