is the london underground safe?
Wr are 2 females in our mid twenties travelling to london in a few weeks. We are planning to take the underground sometimes and would like to know if it is safe late at night.
Yes, as long as you "mind the gap." :)
The tube is overwhelmingly safe. There is the rare attack or problem. But they are VERY rare and the tube is safer than public transport anywhere in the States.
mtg, thanks for the "mind the gap" laugh! :o)
Got my friend mind the gap thong underwear at souvenir shop. You know where mind the gap was written. Her boyfriend fell over laughing when she wore them.
the underground is one of the places that Blair has been saying is a possible terrorist target. The warnings he has been giving are serious ones.
And you think the US subway systems are any more safe against terror attacks? we're talking ordinary everyday safety. the tubes are SAFE
We were there in mid-May and were quite impressed with the Tube.

Relatively clean and doesn't have the Paris smell (love Paris).

Always felt safe.
as there is no air conditioning on the tube it is difficult to see how they could pull off a really big atrocity. sure they could blow up a station and they might kill a few hundred.

30 Something female, on her way to a pub in Stockwell to watch the England/Ireland rugby match, wearing an Ireland jersey - no problems!!!
Safe and polite. My wife was always offered a seat and we never felt remotely threatened.
