is the bus better?
 

We (two older women) will be in Granada in mid-October and need to get back to Madrid. There are only two trains a day, but several buses. Has anyone had experience with either? In particular, would we have to change from one train or bus to another en route or would we go straight through to Madrid (with stops, of course)? Advice appreciated!

General reply: The bus is direct and is usually free of bandits. Use search to get connection ndetails. Inquire about reserved seating.

I went from Madrid to Toledo on the bus and found it quite comfortable.

Trains go up to about 185 mph on much of this route - bus may be a much longer ride?

Those two trains take about five hours; they are both direct.

There are motorcoaches, 'Supra Class', arranged in rows of one and two seats; the seats are upholstered in leather and have a wide leg-rest to provide rest during the journey. It has foldable flat screen monitors distributed along the bus to facilitate viewing of films, individual sound modules and connections points for electronic devices. Supra Class services are direct and include a hostess to take care of the passengers. Once on board, the traveller can enjoy free of charge newspapers & magazines (in Spanish), and a catering service that includes hot and cold drinks and sandwiches. Buses are equipped with restroom that can be used while the vehicle is in operation.
