doug,

Switzerland still uses the Swiss Francs. That said, they gladly accept the Euro, but give change in Swiss Francs. Good idea to know your conversion rate.

One more thing, when you are ready to leave Switzerland, you can cash in your Swiss Francs, but not the coins. You have to go ahead and spend the coins, or take them home to collect.

Dick

Bonjour Doug,

In Geneva, you can pay the bus, public phones and newspapers with euros.

Other than that, Dick is right: paying in euros you'll get change in Swiss francs and the exchange rate is not that good.

There are ATMs even in the smallest villages however, so getting a few Swiss francs is really easy.

We were in Bern and couldn't use our Euro(s) to purchase our tickets for the SBB. But used them in the bar car ON the train.
