No. Similac, a registered trademark of the Ross Products division, Abbott Laboratories, is marketed only in the United States.

The leading brands of infant formulas ("lais 1er age") in France are:

Nestlé
Blédilait
Guigoz
Nidal
Gallia
Modilac
Lactel

Arguments can be given about the superior suitability of one product over another (in both the United States and in Europe), but the manufacture of infant formulas in France is generally regulated much the same as in the US, and you can be as confident in appropriate nutrition from any of these major formulas as you would from Similac.

Of course, YOUR baby's digestibility of any one product is unpredictable. Allow an adequate supply of Similac to allow an easier transition to another formula, if your stay will be more than a week or two.

Feel free to write to me, if I can assist you with aditional information.

Best wishes,

Rex Bickers, M.D.
Fellow, American Academy of Pediatrics
Westerville, Ohio
Thank you for the info!

Superiority is not as much a concern as what my son is used to. I will be in France/England for a month. Hmm...well, since my son has a sensitive digestive system anyway, I guess I'd rather pack enough cans of Similac than upset his system by switching formulae, regardless of how gradual.
