if you simply revive an old thread the chances are it won't be seen by many people, whereas if you start a new one it may be picked up by others, especially if you give it an interesting title.

if, for example, you mention that you are following the WWII Canadian Light Infantry Division route, you might get a lot of hits as there are quite a few people with similar interests on this board.
