One of our first trips to Europe included stops in those three cities and it was wonderful. We had 3 nights in Prague and Budapest and only 1 night in Vienna which was a real shame. You can also travel by hydrofoil on the Danube River between Vienna and Budapest which would make a nice option. The website is:

Has anyone heard of or been on a trip with Sophisticated Traveler? Their prices for the Prague, Vienna, Budapest tour seem to be very reasonable.

We are in this region vacationing now. Remember also in your travel planning that you will probably be about wiped out from the jet lag for a day, and probably pretty tired the second day. When ever we come we always tell ourselves that this time we are not going to waste a day sleeping, but is is all we can do to get out for dinner on the first day.

We just bought the following transportation tickets. Prague to Brno via bus for about US$20+/- each one way. Brno to Budapest via train for about US $50+/- each round trip. I would suggest trying to stay on the busses and trains here. It is much quicker to get in and out of the bus and train stations then the airports. And they are normally closer to the city centers then the airports. And yes, you will want to be to the airport at least 1 1/2 hr. early. It is a just a little more difficult getting around, unless of course you speak/read Czech, which we don't.

We love it here. We have been to Prague one other time, and Vienna as well. We are in Budapest now and will go for a nice warm spa bath tomorrow. If you are coming in the winter, make sure you have plenty of warm clothes to ware. It is in the 30's and fridged here! We are having a great time though. we will be here for a total of two weeks visiting Prague, Brno, and Budapest, this time.

perhaps it's just me but I find these 3 -city itineraries very tiring and by the last one, it's difficult to absorb anything - the "if it's tuesday it must be Vienna" syndrome.

i would try to restrict the trip to two cities, with a "sylvan" break in the middle. otherwise you risk serious cultural overload.

if you decide to do it, then I agree that the train is a better option than flying.
