WE stayed at teh Hotel Mercure Ronceray one year and reaaly liked it. Itwas a the entrance to the passage Jeoffrey (sp)where ther is a darling shop. They sell cany and jam and have a tea room where you can also get a light lunch. I go there every year to buy jam which they wrap so nicely. Makes great gifts. However the next year we stayed at Merure Gare Lazare. The street noise at night was terrible and the area around the station looked a little seedy to me. I would say the 9th is good south of Galleries Layfayette.

Hi peels 4, just wanted to tell you that if you're going to take the metro from Gare du Nord to get to your hotel, (first taking line 4 to Strasbourg Saint-Denis station, then changing) you should take line 8 in the direction of Balard, getting off at Grands Boulevards instead of no. 9. The no. 9 Grands Boulevards station is currently closed for renovation, but the no. 8 DOES stop there.
