Is Madison standard double too small?
Hi everyone!
I have seen many discussions on Paris hotels. Can you put up with one more? I am trying to decide between Hotel Madison and Le Regent, but don't want to pay more than 1300 francs. The Madison includes buffet breakfast which is nice because we don't have to make a lunch stop.

Also, is third week in October too cold and windy for Normandy? Thank you for your help. The suggestions and tips I have gleaned from this board have seen us through two successful trips to Europe. I love it.
Gladys

I stayed at the Madison last Fall. It is a lovely hotel and serves a full breakfast downstairs--a continental in your room. The room was standard European size with lots of closet, storage area and a beautiful bathroom. The bus stop is right out the front door and the metro a few steps away.

I stayed at the Madison in April. I was in a standard double facing the boulevard. I found the room to be a good size by European standards. Certainly enough room for two people to move around without bumping into eachother. Bathroom was very nice, with double sinks and there was a shower curtain, so no worries about water on the floor as in many Paris hotels. The breakfast room is nice also, and breakfast is included in your room rate. The location is excellent. I was on the 7th floor and had no problems at all with street noise even though my room was facing Bld. St.-Germain.

Hi Joy and Jayelle:
Thank you for info on the standard room at the Madison. We're thinking of booking it now that we know it is of adequate size and bathrooms are nice with shower curtains. It's wonderful to be able to get information like this from fellow travelers. These details may seem trivial, but can make a difference in the enjoyment of a hotel stay. Last October we had a shower in Siena without an enclosure, and it was no picnic mopping up with towels every time we showered. Thanks Again!
Gladys
I just inspected this hotel last month, and the four deluxe rooms overlooking the boulevard were the largest rooms in that price range I've ever seen in Paris. A few of the standard doubles were a little tacky as far as decor, but then again the standard room next door was tastefully furnished... the joys of having individually decorated rooms in Europe! If you don't like the decor of your room, just ask to see another.

The lobby, salon, and breakfast room are all charming and modern.
