Is Lauduree Open on Sunday?
 

We'll be arriving in Paris around 1:00 pm. Is Lauduree open? It would be the one on the corner of rue Jacob and rue Bonaparte. Thanks.

Thanks, Elaine, I did check the website. They say that the one on Champs Elysee is open 365 days a year but don't give hours for the newer one. Hopefully, it will be open.

Well, Scarlett, I suppose I could say I would send you some sweets, but it's unlikely they would make it that far! I love those macaroons...

Laduree on the Champs is quite nice..We had a wonderful dinner there last visit..If Laduree is more the point than Laduree on Rue Jacob, then go to the one on the Champs...Bon Appetit!

I haven't tried the rue Jacob location, but I like the original rue Royale setting more than the Champs

Laduree's location on the Champs-Elysees is the newer one. The original is on Rue Royale, which is also open on Sunday. I'm am not familiar with the newer Rive Gauche branch you mention, but the Laduree web site doesn't indicate that it's closed on Sunday, so I'm almost certain it will be open.

Another great place for a sweet or savory snack which is also open on Sundays is Christian Constant on Rue d'Assas just off the Luxembourg Gardens.

Also, Pierre Herme's shop at 72, rue Bonaparte (right off Place St. Sulpice) is open on Sunday and has some unbelievable creations (the passion fruit macaroon with a chocolate filling is so good it should be illegal), but no tables to sit at. Pierre Herme used to be the top pastry chef at Laduree and struck out on his own a few years ago.

I appreciate this additional information. See, my idea was that we should go to Laduree on our first day in Paris to get some macaroons to snack on while we're there, and then go back on our last day to get some more to bring home. That's why I was particularly interested in the rue Jacob one, as it's the closest to our hotel.

Andre, thanks for the other suggestions. I'm always open to trying other macaroons...or other concoctions!

Can you buy the macaroons for take-out or boxed at any of the locations?

I think the Bonaparte store is open every day from about 9 to 7:30. Yes, they have a very big business in "takeout", it's not just a restaurant, there are often lines at that store for that. However, those macaroons are not cheap (I think 1 euro for a very small one about 2" diam) and get stale very quickly. I wouldn't buy any for gifts until you've eaten one that is a day or two old to see what it's like. they do package them very nicely.

They do that on purpose, so that we will have to go to Paris to get them.

They package them in a very pretty pink box. You're right, they don't last very long, only a few days, maybe a bit longer. That's why I have to go back on our last day to bring some fresh ones home!
