Is Juan les Pins a good base for Cote d'Azure?
 

We have been to Nice, Villefranche and Eze. This trip in late September we would like to base ourselves a little West of there. Antibes seems an interesting location but most of the lodging appears to be centered about Juan les Pins, a bit removed from Antibes. Cannes may be too crammed with tourists. If Juan les Pins is good, what hotels are favored at 150 to 250 euro?

Juan is nice.
Close to the beach and easy train station.
But I prefer Antibes.
Did you at booking.com for a hotel ?

It's a train or bus ride away. You could walk from Juan les Pins to Cap d'Antibes easily, but not the old town.

It really depends on what you want. Antibes is a pretty town, with old walls, narrow streets. Juan les Pins is a beach resort, lots of apartment buildings, sandy beaches. The Pinede area of Juan is nicest.

Both towns have good transport links. Juan has better beaches, if that is important to you. Lots of restaurants right on the beach, too.

It also depends on time of year. Juan les Pins is pretty dead outside of the summer months and holidays.

Sorry, just noticed it's late September. Juan les Pins will be much quiter then. But restaurants and bars will mostly still be open.

Cannes is not crammed with tourists either. Unless there's a convention going on, late September is good for Cannes. More expensive than Juan or Antibes, generally.

From Juan-les-Pins to Old Town Antibes it is less than 1 km (1/2 mile). Juan-les-Pins has a wide sandy beach and a row of middle-class hotels along it. It is a typical seaside resort which is popular among families. It is a bit soulless and lacks the atmosphere of a historical town like Antibes and the splendour of Cannes. In September, it will be half empty but still in operation. So you should be able to make a good deal with accomodation. Use the usual search engines.

Budget-wise it is a good location. Also for swimming and walking along the beach. And it is quite centrally located on the Côte d'Azur.

As always, I recommend renting a car on the Côte d'Azur in order to see the hinterland and the most beautiful scenic coastal roads.

Good choice. We've spent 20 weeks vacationing on the Cote d'Azur. We've visit Juan les Pins once - and were not impressed. Too much "concrete" I think the main reason to stay there is to spend time sunning yourself. Antibes is much more interesting, IMO.

Just got the last room in Le Petit Castel which is within walking distance to the beach immediately South of the old townAntibes. Both 10 to 15 min away. Quiet neighborhood with trees instead of concrete.

That looks nice, half way between Juan and Antibes. That beach in Antibes is a good public beach.
Plage de la Garoupe, on Cap d'Antibes, is also nice; from there you can start on the walk around the Cap. There's a footpath just below the mansions there.
