No, it is not worth buying the pass in advance. You can purchase it at any of the museums it covers and at many other places. I usually stop by one of the smaller museums and avoid a line to buy it. Or there is a tourist office on Champs de Elysee, in the park between the Place de la Concorde and the stores. Check their site for other places to purchase:

You are smart to buy the pass. It is definitely worth it to me to have the pass and save time standing in line. Look for the signs at the museum for the correct line/door for passholders. It won't be the long one with lots of people!

Also at such places as the news kiosk/tabac near Musee d'Orsay, and FNAC.

Or, or course the airport if you're flying in.

If yu are near St Germain, the Musee Delacroix never has a line. I sometimes wonder if it ever has a visitor! It is on rue de Furstenburg off rue Jacob.
I never get my money's worth out of the pass as all I can take is 1 museum a day for just a few hours before Stendahl Syndrome sets in!

No. Why would you pay a premium and have yet another thing to lug across the ocean with you?

Nope..no need, get it when you arrive.

It might be worth buying it at a smaller museum the day before you actually use it. Don't decide to wait in line at a major museum to buy it when you want to use it.
