Is it Snowing in Ireland???
Hi -
I got an email from an acquaintance in Dublin stating, "It's snowing in Ireland." I don't see any snow reported (or temperatures low enough to support it) on the wwwunderground.com web site.
Is it really snowing? I leave in 13 days -- and I'm nervous enough driving in Ireland without slippery road conditions! Oh, but I bet it would be beautiful!

Songdoc, mid-April 2005 I was on part of the ROK, we had some hail, we had our lunch sitting outside in sunshine and on the way back to Kenmare we had snow. Oh, I almost forgot, the rain. 4 seasons in one day. I love it. Can't wait for you to report back to us. Have a wonderful, wonderful trip. Joan

You might consider taking a very samll windshield ice scraper if you have any plans for an early morning departure. Things will melt off if you get a later start. I was there in November and had to leave early to catch a plane. My windshield (screen) was a sheet of ice. I think I used my Irish heritage card as a scraper as it was about to expire. It took a while.

"It's pissing rain at the moment."
You have quite a way with words! ;-)
Bill, the ice scraper's a great suggestion. I've added it to my list. At least it won't take up much room.

N o where near snowing at the moment just massive wind and rain. Pissing rain is an Irish expression never thought how it would sound to someone outside Ireland! It rarely snow in Dublin and if it does its light snowflakes that melt before they get anywhere.

I used the pissing rain expression with intent, thinking it would not be widely known outside Ireland and that it might amuse people.
Here in Ireland two snowflakes in the same half-day are counted as a blizzard and the kids don't go to school lest they be unable to get home.

I agree with you about the two snow flakes, and sure if there's more than a few millimetres of rain, and a wind blowing its practically a hurricane!!
Mind you there was snow in Donegal during the week. We're lucky with the weather here on the East coast, its not as harsh.

I've heard the expression "It's spittin' snow." Lord, I don't even want to think about what they'd say it was doing if it were sleet or hail! ;-)
In Nashville (where I live), they close the schools if snow is even predicted --and then, most of the time, we don't even get a flake. And you don't even want to think about the supermarket parking lots when there's a chance of snow!
Of course, it'll be what it'll be . . . But I am concerned about driving in snow in Ireland. So, it better get this nonsense out of its system this week, before I leave!!!

On the west coast last weekend, we were hit by the tail end of a hurricane, in Donegal Town, Sligo etc...Our market stalls were literally blown away... and a mile or two away a parked car was also blown away..There have been unprecedented high winds since last November...climate change has become a reality here .
