>because if Bush gets reelected the European countries will not be happy<
Given, the way the polls are going, about half of all American won't be happy whatever the election outcome. Given the population of the US, versus France, its safe to say that there will be more unhappy people in the US than in France.

Well, let's calculate how many U.S. passports are out there. According to the Dept of State website, over the past ten years there have been on average, about 7 million passports issued each year. That would logically mean that there are 70 million passports out there. With a population of about 300 million, that means that about 23% of Americans hold passports. Oh that Anne Robinson. Of course, how many ex-pat Americans are out there? That would shrink the 23% figure, but by how much?

P_M, I found this a while back when I was curious about the same question:
http://www.gyford.com/phil/writing/2...ny_america.php
I'd guesstimate somewhere between 15-20 % hold passports but it looks like a slippery number at best.
For goatee: Some of those 7 million passports are reissues. Wouldn't that reduce the total %?
This question sounds a lot like the ones that were posted leading up to and during the US invasion of Iraq. I think the ?s come from mainly novice travellers and express a generalized anxiety of not knowing what to expect abroad. Silly? Probably. But any conceivable value to the OPer is gone now with ongoing "you idiot you" thrashings.
And since this thread is headed south quickly, I'll add a comment I heard this morning expressing the possibility that many European countries might welcome a Bush reelection as it will continue to galvanize foreign opposition to an increasingly unpopular war.

Is goatee really quoting the Anne Robinson who was declared incapable of looking after her children by a UK court as an authority for anything?
And how does 15-25% passport ownership compare with, say, Japan or Italy? Or even France? Of course it's low compared with Britain or Australia. But so is everywhere, except New Zealand
Incidentally, it's been common wisdom for decades that votes cast from abroad have a huge Republican bias. Maybe goatee only talks to fellow-pinkoes when goatee travels?

Of course, not all the 300 million people living in the U.S. are citizens. Hmm. No idea how many there are, which would boost the figures. But then again, we have no idea how many ex-pats there are either, which would shrink the figure. All right, let's say 20%, or one fifth.. Oh, maybe that's where I got the "5" figure from.. not 5% but one fifth.

Back to the original post, if you listen to Dick Cheney, you will be scared out of your wits to venture out in any city USA. I have never worried when traveling, specifically Paris. With regards to people on this post stating that you are a "pinko" if you don't believe the fear mongerers in the administration and that the terrorists will be unhappy if "W" gets reelected, don't pay them any mind, they know not of what they speak.

You know something...
Given the asinine verbiage being thrown out by no nothing politicians anti French in particular and anti foreigner except if you're in the coalition of the concerned in general...give such banalities as some people suggesting the name french fries should be changed to freedom fries (you reqlize some people were actually serious about it) given the fact that thanks to some fascists such as the Attorney General of the United States all visitors to the United States are now fingerprinted and photographed like they are criminals, before from Paris might feel much more unsafe in the US than Americans in Parisl.

mgmargate apparently has alot of time to sit around and enter name-calling and just basically stupid comments onto this forum. All you need to do is take a look at his/her previous posts to figure this out.
