Is it safe to drive in Croatia with German license plate?

Looking for a place within driving distance from Munich for a 1-week vacation in August. What is it like to drive in Croatia with a foreign license plate? I am asking this cos we went to the Czech Rep. in March and after planning everything with the intention to drive there, found out that car thieves were aplenty. There were alot of posts here about not driving at all or not to park on streets. I've searched on driving in Croatia and can't find anything negative but just want to be sure. We intend to go to Istria - don't know where yet. Any suggestions would also be welcome for a beach holiday.
Thanks!

If it were not, there would be a lot fewer cars on the road.

Croatia is full of Germans driving.

Of course it's safe -- probably safer than many (or most) places in the U.S. I've been to Istria also and really enjoyed it. Think you will too. Great area just to poke around and explore. Good luck.

Istria is a favorite vacation destinations for Germans who drive their with their own cars. Don't worry, just enjoy.

Of course insurance with full coverage is advisable - everywhere in the world.

Tks for replies. Of course we hv insurance but obviously this will be a big hassle and something one wants to avoid while on vacation in a foreign country.
