Is it Safe?

Is it safe to travel to Rome and Positano right now? Got a trip planned for late May and early June and thinking about cancelling because of the war. What are your thoughts?

My first thought is that you need to be careful to post your question only once. Otherwise, I would personally consider travel to Rome to be very safe.
Good luck.

We're going in July to the same places. My feeling is that since Sept. 11th, the world is a permanently changed place, and you're at least as safe traveling as you are at home. Maybe more so. So go and enjoy it. I'm sure you will!

I think you should be more scarred of getting SARS.

Don't worry about a thing. Italians are the most friendly people in Europe if not the world. We have friends, who are frequent tourists in Italy, and who just returned from Palermo and Venice and they said it was the best trip yet.
We've been lucky enough to go to italy 5 of the last 6 years and we're going to Rome and Sicily in May [My wife and I are retired.] Neither of us have the slightest trepidation about our trip. Hope this helps

I am in Rome right now, and feel very safe. I have travelled throughout the city and have not felt unwelcome or threatened in any way in any place I have gone. Go, and have a great time!

BC
