Is it possible to visit Auschwitz from Prague on public transport?

Thanks in advance for your help.

I saw on a previous posting someone mentioned that Auschwitz is only an hour north of Prague and spent a while online trying to figure out if there's a way for me to get from Prague to Auschwitz by train/bus. My husband and I will be in Prague for 5 days in August on a business trip for him, so I'd be going alone. Is this at all feasible?

Thanks again...

I believe Theresienstadt is the concentration camp which was located near Prague.

Hi PP,

You are thinking of Terezin (Theresienstadt).

Auschwitz is in Poland - about 6 hr from Prague.

Thanks! It didn't seem to make sense, but I figured I'd ask...

Are you as interested in visiting Theresienstadt as you were in visiting Auschwitz?

pittpurple Jul 24th, 2006 05:31 AM

I would be - is there a train?

I'm not sure about a train but i suspect there is bus service.

You can also get an organized tour and here is one resource (of, i suspect, several).

Hopefully others can comment.

There isn't a train to Terezin from Prague, but there are quite a few buses which leave from Florenc metro station.
