NED...I read in one of your posts that in Ennis (on one of your trips), your hosts of a B&B picked you up at the bus station. Is this offered by most B&Bs...or did you have to request? I have been looking for a site to reserve a B&B..any recommendations from anyone???

I usually buy an Eircom Telephone card on arrival.

I don't know if pickup service is offered at most B&B's. When I have a pretty good idea of my / our itinerary, I make a list of B&B's by town; and when I arrive, I call the one I have selected: First to ask if they have a vacancy, and second to ask if they can send someone to the Station to pick us up. I get all my B&B info on the internet.
In Ballina (Mayo), Marjorie herself (owner Manager of Brigowen B&B) drove to the Station to get me. In Ennis, the Rose Cottage B&B lady's husband came to the Station for us.
Just ask! The worst thing they can say is 'No,' in which case you ask for the # of the local Taxi service.

NED...I thank you sincerely for your response and your advise regarding a rest after the flight. We will be doing exactly as you have (stopping in Ennis for a night) I have just received a communication with our friends in Galway and have been invited to stay with them for a few days during our trip. They will be "collecting" us when we arrive in Galway!
I am very excited at this point to begin our journey.
I need only some ideas for gifts to bring to our two families in Galway.
