Is it O.K. to hike naked?

So you want to do something completely different for your next holiday?

How about an 850 mile hike in the nude?

http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article...974094,00.html

Will it ever catch on?

Comments on a postcard ...

As long as you are not overweight - it is OK I guess :))))))))))))))

Dick Jan 23rd, 2004 08:13 AM

Actually, there is also a whole series of nude races that are held in nudist clubs.

The Wall Street Journal did a story several years ago, about a Nude Volleyball Championship. Apparently several non nudist collegiate types...took off thier clothes to compete.

And you figured that this was just at roll.

Don't their bare feet get awfully sore? And what about brambles?

cigalechanta Jan 23rd, 2004 08:18 AM

If you don't mind scratches all over your body and insect bites, go for it!

Sher Jan 23rd, 2004 08:34 AM

I suppose it would be o.k. if they remembered to use sun screen.

rex Jan 23rd, 2004 08:39 AM

Brambles? what body parts are those? (wink...)

I suppose that this means that the UK isnow the world's largest nudist camp?

Best wishes,

Rex

Yawn_boring Jan 23rd, 2004 08:47 AM

I guess you'll have your pole in your hand.

Tat Jan 23rd, 2004 08:49 AM

What if it's not fitting into hand ?

Koshka Jan 23rd, 2004 09:23 AM

Many people run the San Frnacisco "Bay to Breakers" race in the nude.

Most of those folks really should cover themselves. *shudder* In my experience, people I'd WANT to see nude are not the ones who show themselves off. Bleah

Natalia Jan 23rd, 2004 09:40 AM

This thread reminds me of the terrifying experience I had at the Gellert Spa in Budapest where I ended up in a pool room with many naked male and female Eastern Europeans, my eyes haven't been the same since......

Dick Jan 23rd, 2004 10:02 AM

Koshka,

Most people that enjoy nude recreation do it because it feels good. They don't do it to show off. It is called body accpetance, they accept how they are.

Tat Jan 23rd, 2004 10:09 AM

Regardless of whoever said what I still think they do it to shock others.
If it feels good and you know that majority people run clothed - please, get nude around your house.
Not mentioning that most of nude bodies do NOT look good !!!

Natalia Jan 23rd, 2004 10:09 AM

If it feels good do it? No matter who is watching?

Some things on some people are better left unseen! (IMHO)

rex Jan 23rd, 2004 10:31 AM

<<Some things on some people are better left unseen! (IMHO)>>

This is the whole concept behind the "burka" (sp?) - - right?

So do why you expose so much of YOUR skin, Natalia? Your chin, your ankles, your wrists... appalling!

Dick Jan 23rd, 2004 10:35 AM

Hmmmm....seems to me that you people have never skinny dipped.

For the record, nude recreation is non-sexual. A clothed beach is much more erotic...but a nude beach feels so much better.

bob_brown Jan 23rd, 2004 11:21 AM

I think hiking nude on the lee shore of Lewis Lake in Yellowstone on a hot summer day would be an exhilarating experience. There is soft breeze coming off of the water that wafts away the presperation and keeps you feeling cool and refreshed.

Just don't try eating while you walk.
The mosquitos are large enough to take your sandwich or candy bar.

We tried camping there once but after I had to hit two of the mosquitos with my axe to make them put my young son down we decided to go elsewhere.

Natalia Jan 23rd, 2004 11:32 AM

Maybe I am wearing a burka, Rex!

Well, you are a doctor so you were trained to look at less than lovely bodies and get paid for it!

I think sand in certain crevasses at a nude beach would be less than "better", but I am not against nudity, really.

Dick Jan 23rd, 2004 11:35 AM

Natalia,

At a nude beach people still sit on towels.

Sand washes right off you when you are nude(like taking a shower). Sand and chafing vcan be a problem when wearing a bathing suit.
