Is it feasible to visit Keukenhof and Delft on the same day?

Will I be allowed to purchase a RT ticket from Amsterdam to Delft, exit at Leiden in the morning, visit Keukenhof, continue on to Delft in the afternoon and then go back to Amsterdam? Or will I need to purchase separate tickets? Is there a time limit that a train ticket is good? I'm heading over to the Netherlands on Friday morning. Thanks.

I can't comment on the feasibility of your plan in terms of sightseeing, but there's something called a 24-hour ticket that you can buy at Centraal Station, and which you can use anywhere within a specified area (including your towns, I'm pretty sure). We got this when we took a daytrip to Rotterdam, as the clerk explained to us we could also use it to go to the airport the next morning.

Your ticket is valid until midnight, whereupon it turns into a pumpkin.

You probably have a good plan. Keukenhof will not be so busy in the morning as in the afternoon. A couple of hours is good to see the place. Pray for good weather.

Which day are planning this for? Remember Monday is Queens Day and Holland grinds to a festive halt. But yes you can get off at Leiden then get back on to go onto to Delft, no problem.
Weather is good until Tuesday when there is a good chance of rain (sorry but I hope we get it - it's 6 weeks since we had any) but the forecast can change again before then.

Yes you can. If you buy a ticket to Delft, you can get off at any station (in your case Leiden) that is on the same line.
So just buy a dayreturn Amsterdam-Delft. It is valid for the whole day (not sure about 24 hrs.)

Thank you for the responses. We're planning this for Sunday. That gives us Saturday to get over jetlag and walk around the city, and Monday is Queens Day. We're packing in as much as we can while the weather is nice.

I did Keukenhof on a Sunday and it was incredibly crowded.
