Is it a bad time to go?

With all the media reporting about all the illegal immigrants and the IS around Europe is it a bad time to visit this coming European summer?

If you let media reports and terrorists determine your holiday plans and control your life then they win.

Realistically - you are in more danger from the drive to the airport.

Just keep a close watch on your home country's travel warnings and heed them.

N.B. - not sure how the migrants (not illegal) would affect you as they are not a swarm of locusts infiltrating all of Europe. They are landing in Lampedusa (Sicily) and are being processed and sent to detention centres.

Fantastic here, spring is sringing, lambs are jumping, daffodils are over but the blue bells are out.

What was the question again?

Or, USA illegal immigrants 12 million...
A few major crisis across the cities, did I hear summit about Ferguson/New York/Baltimore recently?
I hear one of the arguements that the cops in the USA have is that they have to be trigger happy because the perps are so well armed.

I think you will be safer here.

Hugs to all,

Yes, I think it's a terrible time to go. Why not Baltimore instead?

It is a bad time to visit IS whether in Syria or in Iraq because IS will receive a heavy spanking in summer.

Well, Zak, Where are you right now?
I am in Baltimore. I live here. Many places would have felt safer last night.

It is a fine time to visit Europe. ISIS may invade the major cities, but many small towns, like Kruemlingshafen in Germany, and Saucepan in England, should be perfectly safe.

Just stay away from public bathrooms, where illegal immigrants tend to congregate.

I will be in the major cities, this is not a troll. Just a worried first time traveller!
I'll be in London, Barcelona, Madrid, Prague, split, and the Greek Islands?

Just hope those teens don't throw rocks and bricks at you.
It is not funny.

Some may not know those bad kids did not have guns

I do not condone the riots
But I don't find it a comedy as you do.
No guns were mentioned or used.

Yes, the immigrants who have no money because they just paid off a blood sucking smuggler are known to stay at the hotels recommended by Fodors and Frommers. Well maybe not Fodors and Frommers, but certainly Rick Steves.

I'd be more worried about pickpockets than terrorists.

Some caution is fine, but don't overdo it.

With a bit of common sense you should be fine.

Don't keep all your valuables in one place. A moneybelt is a good idea, but never access it in public.

Don't drink too much.

Be aware of all the usual scams and avoid them.

Have fun.

Sayler, I don't find it funny either, I find it almost unbelievable. Nothing I wrote was or is funny in this thread.

I wouldn't hope these things on anyone. It is hard to imagine having to live in a country where the police have to carry guns, have to carry military style guns etc. It is coming to Europe slowly and I don't like it.

zak, really, it is much safer in Europe.

Hugs to all

This type of fear drives me nuts. Get on with your life. Yes be aware of your surroundings. And of course, no one can ensure another's safety but where you live is crime free?

As someone whose building was engulfed twice by dust and human remains on 9/11, I resolved never to be intimidated. And when we have traveled all sorts of crime and terrorists events have happened before, during, and after our visits.

The problem is that the OP is probably insulated from such activities and more frightened of the abstract than the reality.

Get on with your life. Terrorists and politicians love when you are intimidated, it is easier to manipulate you.

End of lecture.

I have been to all the places you mentioned and felt safe in all of them.
