Seeing how we've been to Europe 3 times with our young children (various ages from 18 months to 6 years), we certainly would do it again--and will keep doing it! Traveling with young children certainly takes a lot more effort, careful planning and some adjustment in your sightseeing expectations. But it is wonderful. My children have experienced so much and have grown as little people because of our travels. And likewise my trips have been enhanced in unexpected ways having them along. Of course I enjoy trips sans enfants and do a bit of that as well. If you have specific questions or would like more suggestions I'd be happy to share more with you.

Do kids younger than 5 really remember?

Of course, they're not likely to appreciate what they're seeing.

But I've got to hand it to people who ferry backpacks, strollers and kids over narrow streets, stairs, subways, etc.

In a lot of cases, it may not be possible to leave children with someone.

Doesn't mean the parents have to deny themselves the opportunity to travel.

My stepbrother and his wife have travelled the world with their children since they were infants. I am amazed by that, but the kids are so used to different places now. (2 kids, I think now aged 11 and 6)

My children are 3 and 5 and we have been travelling with them since they were infants. We will continue to do so, as we enjoy being together. If you have more specific questions, please post them.

I have a whole blog about it!

I would say the most difficult aspect is jet lag.
