Home exchanges are different from regular vacations. You take what you get and are glad of it. You also always do some driving around in the car on side trips. In rural areas, you do that a lot. You do less of it in any big city.

Home exchange means you do not have to do heavy tourism every day. It's a combination of intensive tourism, exploring your neighborhood, hanging out, and, sometimes, taking time off to rest.

If the people are from Homelink, Pintxos, and you live anywhere within shouting distance of NYC, they could be the same people who "jumped" from my house after they got an exchange in New York. In that case, I'd ditch them as untrustworthy. What people do not realize is that the home exchange world is rather small and word can get around when someone indulges in this pastime.

I never buy my airline tickets to any home exchange destination until my partner(s) is/are buying theirs. I have never had a deal go belly up after purchasing tickets. I know I would never cancel for any reason after that. I would rather move out of my house to allow my exchangers to use my house and car if I got sick, for example, than stick them with financial disaster.

Now I have home exchange offers from Krakow and Warsaw. I hope no one cancels and this is done. You never know until airline tickets are purchased--probably after Xmas.

Good luck. Hope you snag Venice. I'd take it in a minute but I am already booked for next summer. Hope the Venice offer is serious because a lot of home exchangers are not serious when the send out offers.
