Is Disneyland Paris worth visiting?
 

Hi, would you recommend a visit to Disneyland to someone who's never been to a Disney-themed park (and who's a kid-at-heart)?

Obviously !

The question is if you can spare the time - if it comes in conflict with visiting Paris !

Avoid weekends it is overfull.

if you would like something with a more French flavour, Parc Asterix isn't far away from Disney and is a lot of fun. [and the food's better!]

It depends -- Some people love Disneyland and some just don't see the point. I'm in the first camp and have been to Anaheim probably 20 times, Paris once and Hong Kong once.

But where do you live? If in the States or Canada -- it might make more sense to go to Florida or Anaheim sometime on another vacation instead of taking time from what may be a too short visit to Paris.

You really haven't told us enough to give the best advice.

One thing that is convenient about Disneyland Paris is that both parks (Magic Kingdom & Disney Studios) have their entrances on the same esplanade just a short walk from each other.

I have family who brought their 7 year old son to both Disneyland Paris and Parc Astérix, and while they enjoyed both, they much preferred le Parc Astérix.

I am not a Disney fan myself but if already in Europe, and you've always wanted to go to a theme park, then it is so close to Paris it makes sense to go :)

We've been to the parks in the US, in Japan, and in France. Of all of them we thought the French park was somehow less impressive than the others.

Personally, if it is convenient to visit and you feel it is as much a part of your visit to the Paris area as is anything else then sure.

No, it is not the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre, the Left Bank, the D'Orsay, etc., etc., and it isn't supposed to be. It's a theme park.

IMHO unless with children I just don't get Disney - but if you like amusement parks then give it a go. Everyhting that I have read says it's not that great - and obviously nothing like Disney World - which has Epcot - so at least a little for adults to see/do.

IMHO, when you are surrounded by one-off palaces (like Versailles), the River Seine, glorious parks, cathedrals like Notre Dame, paintings and sculpture, etc. that you can see only in Paris, it seems a shame to miss any of that in exchange for Disney Land, when you can see even bigger Disney parks at home.

I have been to the original Disneyland (many times), WDW and Disneyland Paris and thought DL Paris was beautiful. We (2 adults, no kids) visited DL Paris twice in the late 1990s and enjoyed it very much. It was not my first visit to Paris however so I might not give up a day in Paris if my time there were very limited.

In my opinion...Paris disney is just ok
It was a bit tired which is weird ..you'd think all Disney parks would have the same formula

2015 we went to
Anaheim
Kids ..old kids lol...in 20s loved it
I thought the atmosphere was less exciting than hk
Could do so much more with music and entertainment
But then I didn't go on many rides

Queues were insane even in winter in LA Disney
But it's great that my daughter has been to three of the Disney parks ...it's an experience at the least!

Since the OP has never been to a Disney park, there is little use in comparing the Paris park with the others.

Of course it's not near Paris, but the favorite theme park in France remains the Puy du Fou.

More techno-flashy is the Futuroscope. Disney keeps an eye on this park to get ideas for new attractions.

I'm really happy to hear about parks that Europeans find wonderful.

Kerouac - I agree about both Futuroscope and le Puy de Fou being preferable to Disney [if that's what you were saying].

but they are both substantially further from Paris than Disney or Parc Asterix and couldn't really be done in a day trip if you were staying in Paris.

Actually a really determined person could do the Futuroscope as a day trip because it has its own TGV station just like Disneyland and a direct train from Paris takes 1h45.

I don't really think Parc Asterix is what adults would be seeking as diversion. Even that character is kind of lame.

And Mickey Mouse? Goofy?

Asterix & Obelix is one of the greatest cartoons ever written.
I am always wary of people who dislike it : no humour no intelligence and no culture are my explanations for not liking it.
I have always heard people say parc Asterix is more for adults than Disney.
Since we keep having small children around us we have always been to DLP. One day ....

Wow, Puy de Fou looks amazing. It's a bit of a hassle to get there, though (train+bus).

In not interested in taking a picture with Mickey, but Walt Disney Studios seems interesting with its stunt shows. It has actually better reviews than Disneyland Park.

As I said mentioned in a previous post, I'll be staying a month in Paris, so I won't be shortchanging any of the bigger sights. I think I'll give Disney a go, weather permitting.
