Is Charles Bridge closed?

I read a couple of months ago that the Charles Bridge was to be closed for renovation. Is that true and if so is it closed to foot traffic?

It's open. Check out the live webcam at: http://www.hejda.cz/Camery/praha1.htm

I don't think it was ever closed outright, though the number of sellers' stalls may have been curtailed.

And I think that the Czechs were too smart to let it continue on into the peak tourist summer season.

I think that the renovations (or any limitations they caused) are currently complete, or suspended.

I think I read it here. I don't know where.

Best wishes,

Rex

If it is open beware of pickpockets. One report I read suggested there was more pickpockets per square foot on that bridge than anywhere else in Europe. I myself had my cell phone pickpocketted in the underground train in Prague at a time when cell phones were quite expensive.
