Is Cesky Krumlov worth the Time
 

We are going over to the Czech Republic for the first few weeks in September, to Visit my wifes ancestral heritage in and around Rychnov nad Kneznou. <BR> We will be including other areas as well, half of our family group want to visit Cesky Krumlov, the others do not believe it to be worth of a visit. <BR> We would appreciate your input.

Yes--loved it !

I think it is worth it since it's a very pleasant and beautiful little place, although I can see it easily becoming a circus if there are too great crowds, since it is rather small. Also as it seems to be becoming very popular, in the Czech Republic this could mean that all the actual Czech people will have been driven from the restaurants, houses, shops, etc in the center because it is too expensive for them, which is what has happened to a great extent in central Prague. I was there in 1996 & 97 and most of the tourists at that time were German-speaking. I don't want to imply that when Americans discover a place it is "ruined" but the mass of numbers, especially in a country like the Czech Republic where everyone tends to go to the same 4-5 places exclusively, would have an undeniable effect on the atmosphere of a place like C^esky Krumlov.

Cesky Krumlov is a UNESCO world heritage site, a marvelous example of a medieval town. I was last there in 1996 in Nov., and I still carry vivid memories of the winding streets,local residents, imposing castle and the river surrounding the town. Go! Judy

Cesky Krumlov is one of the most enchanting Medieval Villages we have encountered in all of Europe. Be sure to stay overnight. You will have the place to yourself in the morning, late afternoon and evening. The atmosphere at night is fantastic.

Do not miss this jewel of a spot! I thought my memories of it were simply embellished with time, but my photos prove that it is an absolute delight!

I definitely thought it was worth it, but mainly because of the castle, I guess. I really enjoyed touring it as it had interesting things in it. THey've done a lot of restoration work so everything is beautiful. It's really hard to say what people find worthwhile, just that I was their in May which was nice, Sept probably will be, but in the summer I think it is wall-to-wall tourists and not as nice. It is very geared to tourists. I only spent one day there, don't think I'd want to spend much more.

Dear Dennis, <BR> <BR>I heartily agree with all the other posters. Cesky Krumlov is a definite <BR>"DO NOT MISS" experience. <BR> <BR>We have overnighted there on two different trips to the Czech Republic and would go back for a third in a heartbeat.

Loved Cesky Krumlov--visited 2 years ago--especially enjoyed lovely concert in the castle. Also a memorable canoe float down the river. It is crowded, but not hard to avoid the most popular sites and the setting in incomparable. It deserves the UNESCO designation.

Hi, <BR>Don't miss it. My wife and I went last year and we loved it. The town, the castle, and especially the theater were all really enjoyable! We only wished that we had spent at least one night in the town.
