Is BMI a reliable airline?

The fares quoted on their web site are very low when compared with BA. I'm not familiar with them. We'll be flying from London's Heathrow to and from sites in Scotland in July.

We flew BMI from Heathrow to Edinburgh - on time and no problems. I'd definitely fly them again!

We flew BMI between London and Rome a few years ago. It was pretty good.

I have used BMI MANY times for trips throughout Europe (they are part of the STAR alliance network) and have only had good experiences. The airline is reliable and the ground and flight staff are very pleasant and helpful. I would actually choose BMI over BA, but they have a far more limited schedule.

British Midland is one of my very favorite airlines anywhere. Moderate fares, good service - and on even the short flights like London/Edinburgh you get a full hot meal.

I wish they served more parts of the US - they would be my carrier of choice.

I also like BMI. However, when we flew from Edinburgh to Heathrow at the beginning of the year, I had to check my carry on bag because it was over their 7 kilo limit(just). Unfortunately, that meant all the way to LAX. Then once we were on the plane, the two women in front of me had bags identical to mine. So, I think it depends on who checks you in.

The breakfast they served was great! Best-tasting bacon sandwich ever! Their planes are very clean and seem to have more room, but I know that's got to be an illusion.
