Is Ascension Day a big holiday in Holland?

I'm planning a daytrip to Delft on a Thursday that I realized was Ascension Day. Do shops tend to be closed in that holiday? I'd hate to go to Delft and find nothing open. Thanks!

Most likely shops, except for a few souvenir shops - will be closed.
Restaurants, museums are open.
Also public transport will be as on sunday, less trains in rushhour etc.

As Ida says the shops will most likely be shut. I don't know how it is in Delft but in my town everything except the garden centres is shut. Partly due to the big annual market we have here, but also just because it is a holiday.
The schools are off then and the Friday, and many companies close for a long weekend, or people just tack on the Friday as a free day.
Whitsun is the same. That is our last holiday before Christmas so tends to be well observed!

May 17th. Whitsun (Pinksteren in Dutch) is 27/28 May.
