Kaudrey, I am surprised your friend was charged $500. I just read articles in the news that people in the areas to be affected were being allowed to change their reservation or route with no penalty.

I'm getting a little more worried....my windows have been covered with plywood and we've been ordered to evacuate by morning. Living on the oceanfront is wonderful most of the year!
Still hopeful for Ireland next week.

Just read in USA today that many U.S. airlines are allowing rescheduling of flights out of the east coast at no charge. So any of you flying out between now and Tuesday may want to check that out. Thanks everyone for your reassurance and good luck to all in dealing with Isabel!!

We went to the airport to find that the Charlotte-Philadelphia leg through US Airways had been cancelled. Thankfully, they have rerouted us through Chicago, to Dublin to Shannon. Even though we will lose a few hours in Ireland, I am so relieved not to fly through a hurricane! They are predicting 55-65 mph winds in Philadelphia. They just declared a state of emergency in 6 states, including NC, PA and VA.

A current Philadelphia area update. Those high winds have just begun to arrive. Some area suburban schools have cancelled classes tomorrow. Looks like a very stormy, rainy, turbulent night ahead and I doubt that many (any?) intl flights will take off tonight from PHL.

We're supposed to fly from Ft. Lauderdale to LaGuardia tomorrow about noon. I see that flight today left 2 hours late and is scheduled to get in nearly 3 hours late. But their afternoon and evening flights have been cancelled. No update yet for tomorrow.
So those thinking places like New York won't be affected need to think again.

We were bumped from our Chicago flight! To top it off, they didn't even take our bags off the plane. Now we are scheduled to go to Atlanta in the morning and then to Shannon tomorrow night. AARGH!! It is anybody's guess whether the bag we had to check will be in Shannon when we finally get there. Good thing we cross packed so we at least have a few things each. This is another reason not to use vouchers! Now we will be charged on our credit card for our B&B tomorrow night and have a voucher that is worthless.

A ray of hope!!! A couple of hours ago, Weather Underground (my travel weather bible) predicted winds tomorrow in New York of 40 to 45 mph. -- easily enough to cancel flights especially into LaGuardia (my concern). They have now changed that to predict winds of 20 to 30 mph. which is infinitely better. Maybe things will clear up for those of us flying along the east coast tomorrow.
