Is Aitalia Air that bad? Flying from Barcelona to FCO

We are flying in late May from Barcelona to FCO. I booked it based on price and now have buyers' remorse after reading some posts. Also, are they especially strict about carry-ons?
I imagine that its too late to cancel (booked yesterday afternoon.)
Thanks; ps is trip insurance a rip off?

I flew Alitalia from Chicago to Rome and it wasn't as horrible as I had read. We didn't have many carryon's so I don't know if they're particularly strict. But they were friendly and even worked with my sister when she wanted to change her return trip to Chicago. You're on a relatively short flight so I can't imagine it will be unbearable.

It's only 2 hours, isn't it?

Just under. That is why I figured go for the cheapest.
Later, I read some real horror stories not related to the actual flight.

The only problem we had with Alitalia when we flew Cairo-Rome-Madrid last summer is that the interior of the plane itself was fairly "tired". No matter - I fell asleep and slept the whole flight. No bumps and we took off and landed safely (and had a fabulous view of Mt. Vesuvius from the air, which I know has nothing to do with Alitalia, but it was very cool). I wouldn't necessarily chhose Alitalia because I like a newly-redecorated plane, but if the price is right, I wouldn't turn it down either, especially for a short flight.
