Is Air Conditioned Hotel Advisable for June at Santiago de Compostela?

Planning to be in Santiago in late June. Assuming it may be warm at that time. Will the fact that Hotel MV Algalia is a stone building mean that air-conditioning is not necessary? Or would it be advisable to stay where there is air-conditioning?

Hi,

I ahve been in Santiago twice during the summer, both times in mid July. The first time we stayed at the Parador and our room had no A/C. Eventhough during the day it warmed up, at night the temps went down and we were not warm in the room (the building is stone). The second time I was in Santiago during a heat wave. I was so glad that time my hotel room had A/C! I would say ,in general, you should be OK, bur there are no guarantees!

As cruiselov stated it could be comfortable, it could be hot.

As I live here in Galicia ( in a warm and dryer spot than SdC).

I would so no. I do not have AC in my house neither do Gallegos.

The weather the past 2 visits in June has been hot, hot, hot!I was lucky to have AC.In Europe AC is not used as much as in US.It really depends on what you need. The other use of AC in Santiago is to get some sleep as it tends to be very noisy until very late and so trying to sleep with the window open is impossible-even with earplugs!

Can't you just do like everybody else and sleep once the noise dies down. ALL the other people around you do it, so why don't you. Different metabolism than all the other people?
Or move to suburbia? Hmm, interesting. What makes you so special.

Just as a note of reference, we were happy to have A/C in late November when it reached 27C+ (80F+) and everyone was enjoying the beach weather in San Sebastian.

Ribeir

I also visited the family in December in Galicia before they could afford heating and there was a thin cover of ice on the water on the basin next to the bed.

When we were there last in the summer of 2008, they had to kill the chickens prematurely because it was too hot.

Aduchamp1 some of my Galician friends either do not have heating or cannot afford to put it on. Only relying on the wood-burning cooker in the kitchen for heat.

Life is oh so different for some folks.

Robert I bet you was please you bought your cool box that day!
