Is A Day Trip To Cliffs of Moher Worth It?

My friends and I will be in Dublin for a short time (arriving 3:00 PM on 8/6 and departing 11:00 AM 8/9). We are planning to go to the Guinness Storehouse the first evening and explore Dublin for the entire day on 8/7. Is a day trip to Galway/ Cliffs of Moher worth it on our final day?

Thanks in advance!

That's an awful lot of traveling across the flat interior of Ireland, and if the weather doesn't cooperate, the Cliffs will be pretty invisible anyway.

I'd spend time nearer Dublin...maybe a daytrip to Powerscourt/Glendalough?

You certainly can spend that day exploring Dublin some more, or take a day trip to Brú na Bóinne (aka Newgrange) or as azzure says, Powerscourt/Glendalough.

Clear across the country for the Cliffs is a weather gamble, and you won't spend much time there; mostly on the bus/train.

No. not worth it.
3pm is a European arrival? if you can fly into Shannon you could head to Galway for the night of 6th, Take a Cliffs & Burren tour on the 7th before catching a late train/bus to Dublin for the night and until departure.

It's only worth it if you are staying on the west coast or arriving by air at Shannon.

Please don't do that to yourself. It is much too long a trip for a day trip. I know it's hard to pass up things that some consider " must see" , but your time is better spent staying closer to Dublin. I highly recommend Michael Fox At Boyne valley tours if you are at all interested in New Grange, Hill of Tara, Bective Abbey. He is very personable, knowledgable, and was a wonderful guide. Best wishes and enjoy your trip.

You can take the dart to Howth for a nice cliff walk and seafood lunch. half a day max.
