Is 7 nights in Positano to long?
I am planning a trip to the Amalfi coast. Is 7 nights in Positano to long or would it be best to break up the nights in Sorrento, Capri, Amalfi, Ravello, and Positano?
I welcome suggestions

Hi A,
You can take the SITA bus or the ferry from Positano to Sorrento, to Amalfi and to Capri. From Amalfi you take the bus or cab up to Ravello.
Personally, I would spend the week at www.lesirene.com in Praiano.
Their website shows
"OFFER 2011
Taxi-transfer at arrival free of charge from Naples airport or train station for 7 nights min stay".
Enjoy your visit.

Seven nights is not "too long," at least it has not been too long for me.
If you plan to visit Capri I would certainly spend at least one night on the island, instead of visiting on a daytrip.
Having said that, I will return to the area in a few months, along with first-time visitors. We plan two locations--one in the hills and one on the coast itself.

It all depends on what you want to do.
Do you want to spend all your time visiting nearby sights & towns (if so, which ones ?), all the time lazing on the beach / by the pool or a combination ? If you want to do much sightseeing, Positano is not the best location for transport options. If you want to see the Amalfi Coast and Ravello, Amalfi is the best base for transport connections - it has lots of buses and boats and you can reach most other places directly.
I have spent 3 separate weeks in or just outside Positano (just lazing); plus two separate weeks in each of Amalfi and Capri (Amalfi just lazing and Capri a combination of lazing & sightseeing) and a week plus a separate long weekend in Naples (all sightseeing); plus 3 separate weeks in Ischia (mainly lazing); and enjoyed all those very much. I spent something like 4 or 5 days in Ravello and found that too long - just not enough there, plus it was cold in the shade and in the evening (in June !) presumbaly due to the altitude. I have only visited Sorrento in passing and don't like it at all, it's like an Italian Blackpool and very geared up to cheap British package tours.
If I had a free week and the spare cash to use specifically in that area, I'd probably also go for 3/4 nights in Amalfi & 3/4 in Capri.
