Is 3 hours enough to catch other flight from Heathrow T4 to T2?

Hi All,

We'll be arriving from KUL to London Heathrow on 21/12/2016 estimated arrival Terminal 4 at 16:15pm. We need to catch another flight to Geneva at 19:30pm (last flight of the day) at Terminal 2 on same day.

Question here, will we be able to catch the next flight on time collecting our 2 luggage, going through immigration, train T4 to T2 & check in & drop baggage?
Should we stay 1 night at airport hotel and take the first flight 7am on 22/12/2016 to Geneva instead?

We have booked the ticket from KUL-London Heathrow first and decided to explore Swiss since we don't want to stay longer in London. If we have planned to stay in Swiss earlier we have already booked KUL/SG-Geneva instead.

Since the tickets are on separate bookings -- you are not protected. 3 hours could be long enough . . . or not. But if not, you will lose your onward flight.

So yes -- stay the night at an LHR area hotel.

Or don't check bags.

Can you get the flights linked so your gear gets through?

I'd expect it to work but if your inbound has an issue (fog) you can lose an hour, then you arrive when the system is full of people it all begins to grind up.

If I was flying on someone else's money I'd risk it, on mine I'd sleep over.

Not checking bags will help, yes -- but flying in long haul, any little delay -- even just not being able to park at a gate immediately mess you up.

My last three long hauls in to LHR were 1) 20 mins early, 2) on time but we sat on the tarmac for about 30 minutes, and 3) would have been on time but we literally circled all of SE England for nearly 45 minutes. The one before those was 2 hours late due to mechanical issues at LAX.

Unless you can get the flights linked as bilboburgler suggests, stay the night.

If you cannot catch your connecting flight, you will not only loose the ticket (71 GBP) but also the (most probably) prepaid first night in your Geneva hotel.
