Is 3-days enough time for Venice?
 

I will be in Venice for 3-days in October, and I wonder if that is enough. There is a possibilities that I could extend the number of days. I may not be back in Venice in the near future as my travel list is long, so should I plan to spend more days? If so, how many days.

I think four days would be perfect but three days would work.

Yes, 3-4 days would be perfect for Venice, but 2 days would be fine, too. Doesn't it seem like there is never enough time to really get to know these cities?

I think it would depend if you want to see most of the MUSEUMS,..(some do some don't)...OR just walk the streets, take vaporettos etc. and absorb the flavor of the city!
You could certainly do a combination of the above in three days...(but of course if you really LOVE it and think you may not be back , then you'll probably wish you would have taken a 4th day)
We spent 1 day and got a great overview ....no museums~~~ but we saw a lot and talk of returning "sometime"...maybe some January when it is a little quieter.

Forget the rest of your trip and stay in Venice. :)

If you can make it 4 days, you will be much happier. You'll be able to see more and enjoy it more.

Anytime I can extend my trip in any way in Italy I would, hee.

However I think 3 days will be lovely if that is all you can stay.

Ann---my alternative is to stay longer in Venice or just fly home.

Sounds like 3-5 days is the number of days I should spend.

Hi Susan, per your last post..I personally would stay in Venice as long as possible. The longer you stay there the more you will appreciate Venice, especially the areas away from the "tourist section". Enjoy!

I spent Christmas in Venice and was there for 4-5 days. By the time we were finish I was ready to go. Don't get me wrong I loved Venice but I travel with a child so that much walking can be exhausting. Venice is also very expensive so save some money to shop and a start a seperate account for food. Remember to soak it all up and take lots of pictures.

We stayed 3 days in October and it wasn't quite enough time. 5 days would be better.

We stayed 3 days in Venice about a year ago, and it was just enough time to get a nice feel for the city. If we could have stayed a day or two longer, it would have been nicer.

I think 3-5 days is fine.

If you are an art lover, you probably know that the 52nd International Arts Festival: Venice Biennale (this happens every other year) runs through November.... I have never been to this festival, but would love to go. That said... 3 full days would not be enough, 4 days would be better.

I have spent my "short" trips of up to 5 full days there walking and eating, riding the vaporettos, and going into lots and lots of churches! Every single "area" is a treat, and can fill an afternoon with a visit to a museum, a church, walking and eating, a bit of shopping. Take in an evening concert, and try not to miss the Peggy Guggenheim Collection, art lover or not. I have never taken the time to go to Milano. And Venice has never ever disappointed, rain or shine, crowds or not, 2 days or 5....

You'll have a great time whatever you do. Venice is truly unique!

If your 3 days include the day of arrival and departure, then you only have one full day. I that is the case, I would extend it a day or two if possible.
