No idea what a G class licence is.
It depends on the weight of the RV you are renting.
On a normal European B licence you can drive a vehicle with a maximum total weight of 3500 kg. Above that you must have a C1 or C licence.
So you need to a) know what weight you are licensed to drive and b) the weight of the RV you intend to rent.
Be aware that the total weight includes everything, people, fuel, water, gas luggage, food, furniture. Everything. You can be stopped and weighed. If you are overweight you can be fined, and have to ditch belongings or people to get the weight down. Most responsible rental companies are well aware of the law and will make sure you aren't overweight.
If you are RVing in France invest in a France Passion book for unusual overnight stops. Also have a look at www.campercontact.com for a huge (but by no means complete) list of camper stops and campsites.

Most RVs for rent would be specifically designed to be compatible with a normal licence. Anything else would be totally stupid.
When I see all of the trucks and vans for rent that are clearly marked "available with a 'permis B'" it seems to me that the RVs on the market clearly qualify.

Yes most RVs are under 3500kg, but some bigger heavier ones are available. They are not of US format, and can still be quite short and heavy, or longer with more living space and over 3500kg. Still perfectly driveable in Europe.
Whether or not OP can rent anything depends on the weight they are licensed to drive.

As always, responses on this forum are helpful. I did some of my own further investigation and learned that the standard G license in Ontario allows one to drive a vehicle up to 11,000 kg, so I am confident I will be okay.
Thanks.
Thanks.
