Is 2 1/2 to 3 Days in Paros worth the trip?

After doing independent travel in Israel and Petra for 12 days, we fly to Athens to catch our flight home next June. We have a few days availablein Athens & environs before international departure.

We will arrive in Athens at 9:30am next June 10th. We could take a flight mid day to Paros and chill and tour until mid day June 13. We then need to fly back to Athens to get early am international flight home on June 14th.

Is the timing too tight to enjoy time on Paros or is it doable? Should we just rent a car at the airport in Athens and head to the Peloponnese. We like staying at intimate beach places, spending half day on beach and half day touring. We loved our time in Crete and Naxos (also went to Santorini, Mykonos, Delos, Rhodes).

You have enough time to visit an island if you're going to fly there. You have lots of options other than Paros. Check the destinations for Olympic Air and Aegean Airlines on their websites.

If it were me I would head out to Nafplion for those couple of days. It is a coastal city so it seems like an island town. It is beautiful and it has the benefit of being on the mainland so you are only an hour and a half to the airport.

However if you have your heart set on Paros then consider its tiny neighbor Antiparos. It is very nice and only a 15 minute water taxi away from Paros.

Lots of people go to Paros just for the weekend, so yes it is possible to enjoy a few days there. The 37-seat Dash 8-100 aircraft flying into Paros can't carry a full load (weight restrictions), so tickets sell out quickly. The airplane can take about 30 passengers going to Paros, and only about 20 back to Athens. If you can't get tickets for the flight, there is a Blue Star ferry leaving Piraeus at 5:30 pm, taking 4 hours to get to Paros.

Antiparos, mentioned by stanbr, is a good choice if you just want to relax. From the airport it takes only 5-10 min by taxi to Pounta, the port for ferries to Antiparos. Ferries leave every 30 minutes throughout the day, and take only 7 minutes for the short crossing. Once on Antiparos you can walk nearly everywhere.

Very helpful info. With limited time, I think Nafplio wins. It looks like it has the small town/village atmosphere we enjoy. I see we can take short day trips to Epidaurus, etc. Are there any goodsand beaches for swimming in Nafplio?
If you had to choose between staying in town or at top of hill, what would you pick? any favorite hotel?
Stan your photos are terrific. On what site do you organize and publish them?
Nice to touch base with you again brotherleelove and Heimdall

Nafplio is a good choice. Fortunately you will just miss Pentecost weekend (June 7-9) when it will be a little busier both in Nafplio and on the islands.
