john183, thanks for hanging in there after our long pause in posting! We have plans for Milan and the Lake Area for September, 2020. At least, air and hotels are booked. Further planning later. Still enjoying memories of recent France trip. Local winter, though mild, is mostly gray skies. So we're heading to FL for two weeks of respite. How about you?

Great report and really enjoyed your pictures. I admire your stamina, particularly since you were both under the weather. You packed a lot in! Thanks for sharing.

Tom. We had a great time in that area in 2012 - I'm sure you will too. I hope you are planning to spend some time in Milan - we really enjoyed our short stay there. You can see details of our trip in my report. Already looking forward to your report. We are deciding between Portugal or the heel of Italy for our next trip. Both sound great.

I'm glad you had a very nice trip, but next time you might want to try a different area for accommodations. The Canal Saint Martin area in the 10th arrondissement is outstanding, or just a few blocks away, Place de la République feels more "central."

Thanks for taking the time to post your great trip report and pictures. I also really enjoyed the Musee Marmottan and it's fantastic collection of Monets. I took the bus out there, which is another great way to see the city. I actually never even used the metro on my last trip.

I think your hotel must have been pretty close to where I stayed last October as a lot of the places you mentioned sounded very familiar. Great area, but my apartment was noisy at night with partiers. Next time I am staying close to Rue Montorgueil.

ETA: Ah, yes, I just checked. I stayed just down the street from Le Regent.

John 183, I did check out and enjoy your 2012 TR. We arrive in Milan in early AM, possibly on the same flight as you from ATL, and are staying there for four nights. Then we move on to Bellagio at the Hotel Florence for five nights, and finally to Lugano for five nights. We plan on doing some day trips from these locations. Enjoy Portugal, or more of Italy! It's great to have so many areas of interest for future travels, isn't it?

Great report, although it made me miss Paris even more. Any thoughts on your next journey?

A wonderful TR, tomarkot. I bought a small print of that Monet that reminds me of Paris.

It's getting some age, but here's my TR that include Bellagio:
Turin, Spoleto, Bologna and Bellagio TR

Looking forward to "traveling" with you two again soon!

Great to hear from you, Tom! Plans for September 2020 are for Milan, four nights, Bellagio five nights, and Lugano five nights. You'll, no doubt, be enjoying Portugal then? We're interested in reading more of your Quebec travels. We had a great, but chilly, time there.

Sorry to see this end, though I know we've all got to go home at some point (and sometimes we're even glad to be there). I'll look forward to reading about your Italy trip.

So glad you asked, Tom! Yes, we're going to France in May and early June. That's one reason why I read your trip report with so much enjoyment. I can't get enough of France and reading about somebody else's trip tides me over between trips. Have fun planning your time in Italy. We loved Milan and Lugano and regret missing Bellaggio.

Hi TDudette, I did go back and read your TR. What a trip! On previous trips, we did visit a couple of the places you mentioned. We especially enjoyed your details on Bellagio.

I so enjoyed visiting some of our favorite places in Paris with you. It’s a place to return again and again and your photos gave me some fond memories of days gone by.

We have never been to Normandy or MSM so I was glad to experience those sites with you.
You have a good eye for photos. Thanks so much for posting.
