Irish restaurants/pubs
 

Hello all, We will be in Ireland in early September in Co. Galway, Kerry, Cork only. Other than Ballymaloe House where we have stayed and eaten before and plan to return to, can anyone give me your favorites in Killarney, Dingletown, Galway City, Clifden, Kinsale etc. Been to Moran's, Doyle's. Looking especially for little pubs for lunches. Thanks for any and all.

Regarding the areas you've asked about, I was only in Killarney and Galway Bay, so I can only comment on them. The Royal Hotel In Killarney, and the Galway Bay Hotel in Galway Bay. The Royal was very nice, not modern but quaint, clean and warm. The Galway Bay Hotel was brand new when we arrived (May 1998) and we all loved it. The rooms were modern and the staff was great. The dining room was wonderful as was the food, awesome! I LOVED it.

Our landlady in Killarney recommended "Scalig" as a place that locals would go when they went out to eat. We ate early so there weren't many people there. It was a good, resonable meal

Tel 021 821621. <BR> <BR>In Kinsale : Definitely try the Man Friday : Tel 021 772260 and The Spaniard pub across the road for a post dinner drink ....basically anywhere in Kinsale ! kam, <BR> <BR>I second 'Gabys' in Killarney (make certain to have dinner reservations). Second choice would be 'Dingles' (also located in Killarney). Also in Killarney you may want to stop at Danny Mann's pub. Many locals and I recall music begins around 9pm. There is a great pub in Galway that has restaurant on second floor (pub on first floor). I cannot recall name but will try to locate as it was one of the better 'pub' meals we had while in Ireland.
