Ireland's West Coast
I'm am considering a short cruise this summer that will end in Southhampton. On our last cruise two years, I revisted Ireland, but not long enough and not along the West Coast. If we fly into Dublin, can you suggest ways we might see the West Coast without driving (my husband's vision is not as good as it once was, and he prefers not to drive). Perhaps hiring a car and driver? I'm thinking to spend perhaps four days total before returning to Dublin. I know I can do my own research, but like to know what I am seeing as we ride along. Any suggestions?

Taxi Westport | Taxi Service | Westport MiniBus | McGing Taxi Westport We used them last year in Westport. You can take the train there from Hueston station. No changes. They will pick you up, we did day tours with them for 30 an hour but there were five of us. I know you can take a lot of day tours from Galway but not sure of private drivers. A lot of people love Rabbies tours. You are on a small coach and they will help you with lodging,

Do I presume you are flying from the UK to Dublin?
Galway is a trivial bus trip from the Dublin airport. There is an hourly Citylink bus waiting outside the terminal you can just pay cash and hop or book online before hand for a slight discount. Bus drops you off in the middle of Galway. From Galway, there are many local tour companies offering trips to the Aran Islands, Cliff of Moher, Mayo county, etc. For destinations not covered by tour companies, the taxis have fixed prices to popular destinations. |
Thank you, Greg and Macross.
