Ireland your 3 favorite towns and 3 favorite b&b's
Hi, We'll be spending 11 inights in Ireland in September. We'll land in Dublin and pick up the car at Dublin airport. We're not interested in cities. What are your 3 favorite towns and b&b's? 3 must sees and dos? Thanks. Joan

Hi,
We only had a week and stayed in mostly southwest Ireland, but we loved where we stayed:
Sue Daly's B & B in Doolin (Near Cliffs of Moher, the Burren and Sue is the best host ever!)
Pax House in Dingle (comfy rooms, great breakfast, location, and views were amazing. Even saw Fungie the dolphin from our patio!)
Tahilla Cove Country House in Sneem (Kerry peninsula) - well located and one of the most peaceful and beautiful places we have ever seen...
From Doolin, we drove through Killarney National Park - a must. I personally would not miss the Dingle peninsula and the Ring of Kerry either. The key is to allow enough time to get out and stop where you want. A week was a bit rushed for what we covered. I would have preferred an extra day in each location. It is every bit as gorgeous as I had heard...

We spent 2 nights at Riverside Cottage in Doolin and really loved it. Great spot for the Aran Islands (which I highly recommend) and the Cliffs of Moher.
We spent only 1 night in Kenmare but it was lovely. We were at Tara Farm B&B. It had a beautiful view and the best breakfast. Kenmare was a nice spot for the Ring of Kerry but we ended up going to Mizen Head, which was breathtaking.
We really enjoyed going to Newgrange.
I really don't think you can pick somewhere bad though, Ireland is beautiful!

Favorite towns....like choosing which is my favorite child! But I love Sligo environs, Keel on Achill Island, Bantry.
Favorite B&B's? Well, The Bervie on Achill Island, Headley Court in Bunratty, Ballycarton House in Limavady (OK that's in NI but we loved our time there), Dromcloc House in Bantry is a bit timeworn but the folks are warm and welcoming and the view from our window took our breath away.

Oops, missed the must see-s and do-s!
Again, Achill Island
Beara Peninsula especially Gleninchaquin Park
Hard to beat Dunluce Castle to Giant's Causeway to Carrick-a-rede Rope Bridge
I'm with Ayla-C; there's not much I wouldn't go back to see!

We also loved Dingle and Pax House is a MUST STAY while there, the Connemara area with a stop at Kylemore Abbey is beautiful, Killarney National Park, Muckross House, and Ross Castle are all close by the town of Killarney and great places to visit. Earl's Court is where we have stayed twice while in the area. Enjoy your trip!

These couldn't all be done in your time alotted, but my favorites are:
Cushendall (Northern Ireland), Riverside B&B
Ardara, Donegal, Bayview B&B
Westport (didn't care for the B&B there as much)
Inis Mor, Man of Aran Cottage B&B
Kenmare, O'Donnabhain's B&B (best of both!)
Kilkenny, Alcantra B&B

I don't know how these would fit into your itinerary, but in 2 trips to Ireland they were our favorites.

Liked many of the smaller towns, but our favorites were Westport and Kenmare. Dingle Peninsula was our favorite drive--Achill Island, Westport our next favorite.
Best meal--Mulcahy's in Kenmare
Best breakfast--Shelburne Lodge, Kenmare
Best room--the blue room--Lough Key House, working fireplace
On the other end
Least favorite towns(as in towns not surrounding areas)
Dingle
Kilkenny
Kinsale(sorry, but for us worst food)
We will return to Ireland some day(we were there twice in 8 months), but it will be to the west coast. For us that was the best.
Just two people's opinion. Good luck.
