ireland - where can i hire a driver
where can i hire a driver to take us around ireland?
any idea how much it would cost? how many hours a day we can hire them for? thanks |
You haven't clarified on your other two threads if you still plan on basing in Dublin to tour the west coast.
You can hire drivers in any town really --the various tourist offices can help you w/ that. Also a few Fodorites have recommended individual driver-guides. But if you want to tour the west coast as day trips from Dublin you'd have to hire a driver for a minimum of 10 to 12 hours each day + meals - that will be very expensive. |
Hit post too soon. The only other option would be for you to take trains and/or buses across the country and hire a driver to pick you up somewhere in the west. That would be cheaper driver-wise -- but still make for VERY long days.

thanks for replying. so i've found tour companies that do the route to the places i wanted to go to, but they're expensive. if we're 3 people i was just wondering if it might be cheaper to hire a driver.
i'm used to long days. when we've toured in the past we've had 15-16 hour days and were okay with it. obviously not all on consecutive days. |
This will sound snarky - and I don't mean it that way ---- honest. You still seem to be ignoring EVERYTHING posted on your other two threads. Dublin is simply not doable as a base for day trips to the places you want to see. Except for the Wicklows -- everything else is HOURS away. No matter how many hours you are prepared to be on the road - it just won't work. In those sceniic areas, a car will average 35 mph or less, a local bus will be even slower.
So, as several of us have suggested -- you either have to cancel your Dublin hotel and stay out west - or concentrate on things closer to Dublin. Every time folks mention this -- you start a new thread, maybe hoping to get a different answer. It ain't happening . . . |
