Ireland waterway cruising

We're planning to rent a self-drive boat and do some cruising on the Shannon River in Ireland the first week of June 2003. Looking for advice. Has anyone done this before?

My cousin used to book them for a company years ago. They always went with a gang each summer and loved it. They show you how to drive the boat etc and there are from what I hear pubs along the way to dock the boat outsode and you can go for dinner or a pint. I would like to go myself! We are planning few days next summer to do this.

Most people go in groups though how many are you? I think it could be a bit too much for 2 people.

Lorie...I don't know that this info is current, but I sent away for a video of a Shannon River cruise a few years ago. It was --- Worldwide Travel of Irvine Cruises, 1-800-6cruise. An American Express Rep. Agency. They sent a free video which was very interesting, we didn't do the cruise though, we were too busy with the whole of Ireland. Hope this is of some help......Helen

I haven't barged in Ireland but have booked trips very successfully in England from an outfit that also deals in Ireland. Le Boat 800-922-0291 and get their brochure for Ireland.

Check out the web site for Crown Blue Lines (www.crownblueline.com)an UK company which comes highly recommended to us by friends who have used them. We are planning our trip w/them this next year. Good Luck!
