Ireland trip w/ RC car, baggage & customs quirey
 

We are travelling to ireland next week and my 15 year old son wants to bring his new remote control car. It will fit in his carry-on, but he would like to check it. Does anyone know if the airline and/or customs will be a problem? I haven't seen anyone with this problem before, and I really don't trust the answers given by calls made to the airlines. She simply said, &quot;oh, well, I don't know exactly what that is, but I'm sure it is o.k.&quot; Kind of a pat and 'scary'answer'.<BR><BR>If anyone can help with a similar situation, please help. His RC car is a bit expensive, and we would hate to lose it to the airline. Thank you. Lotty

No matter what anyone on here says there would be no guarantee - since individual airport screeners/supv's could have their own ideas about the remote. So even if someone said - sure go ahead take it - you could still lose it.<BR><BR>But my question is - where does your son think he will be using this toy, anyway?? Certainly not in a small B&amp;B room. I'd leave it home

Don't bring the car. There are too many things to do in Ireland to sit and play with a remote control car.<BR><BR>Bill

Hi all, Thank you for your responses. We are renting a cottage in Portmagee for two weeks, and i just thought it might be a good idea if he and his older sister had a thing or two to do by themselves on those times when they don't want join their parents.<BR><BR>The car really is more than a toy ( although i still think it is). It's more like one of my husband's toys. Maybe someone knows - those expensive<BR>competition type remotes, not for driving inside anywhere. I am also concerned that the vehicle may be confiscated at the airport. I will still keep encouraging more READING for my son.
